What is a Feminist?
There are a lot of definitions on what it means to be a feminist. Below are some of my favorites:
Merriam Webster:
noun ˈfe-mə-ˌni-zəm
: the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities
: organized activity in support of women’s rights and interests
Urban Dictionary:
Feminist – someone who believes the radical notion that women are people.

Wikipedia:
A feminist advocates or supports the rights and equality of women.
Feminism is a collection of movements and ideologies aimed at defining, establishing, and defending a state of equal political, economic, cultural, and social rights for women.
With all these different definitions, it’s no wonder that it is so confusing for young women these days to identify themselves as feminists. Or to even want to.
The purpose of this blog is to identify what being a feminist really means in the modern world. There will be no burning bras, no hating on men. Simply celebrating the women who are being themselves and not letting anyone hold them back. Because at the end of the day, no matter what other people might define you as, being a feminist means you refuse to play by others’ rules.
